Add option to have Setup folders listed in a table instead of the default "big icon" view
A table view would - subjectively - be easier to read with many folders than the current implementation using icons. Currently, you basically have to use the browser's find function to find folders.

zepit'd also be nice to be able to (easily) retrieve the folder/host association information from the command line. it seems like it's stored in a binary file wato_host_folder_lookup.cache, but it's nontrivial to extract which host maps to which folder.

Thomas Lippert AdminHI Thierry, How many folders do you have on the same level?
Would it help, if the folders get smaller (e.g. reduce the height) to show more folders on the screen?
Or would a filter help to quickly reduce the shown folders to a reasonable amount? -

Thierry T.Hi Thomas
At the moment we are at 124 folders for the "most busy" Main folder. Subfolders usually count only around 5 folders with outliers ranging into the 20s, though.
Personally, I do not think reducing the icon size will measurably benefit readability in "huge" folders. My main issue with the folder view is that I have to scan the folders in two directions to find the one I am looking for. This would - subjectively - be heavily reduced by showing folders in a table similar to the hosts.
The biggest advantage I see in lists/tables is, that every item's name begins in the same column. This makes it way easier for me, to quickly find specific items by eye. With "big icons" this is not the case. Combined with the case-sensitive sorting, I often struggle to find folders without CTRL+F ;)
A filter could potentially improve manageability overall. When still using "big icons" the benefit could only be marginal, though, depending on the folder structure and filters being used. -

Thomas Lippert AdminHi Thierry,
thank you for the additional insights. I assume 124 folders on the root level are in the top range of all customers. Also, a list view would not be too easy to operate. Some filter capabilities will be required, IMHO

MarekI agree with guys above. We have "only" 20-40 folders, but names of folders are longer (based on SNOW assignment groups) than it fit for folder icon width. So if I'm searching for particular folder, I need to wait for tooltip to show full name.
In list view, the row with folder name could be much longer and would increase the speed of working. I don't see any reason, why list view would not be too easy for operate. -
