AWS S3 as backup destination
I want to backup my Checkmk instance into an AWS S3 bucket, as this is the cheapest storage on AWS

Ralph BoltonI'd like to run my CheckMK on an EFS share - that way if my server fails, I just need to spin up a new one and all my data is still there - no need to restore from backup.
But backups are still required, and so yes, S3 would be good, as it'll avoid me having to run backups in CheckMK and then some bash scripts to upload it to S3 as I do now. -

Thomas Lippert AdminCheckmk is very IO intensive. We are not sure, if EFS can be the right choice for larger installations

Thomas Lippert AdminWill be shipped in Checkmk 2.2.0. Moved to done, so I can share the plans for Checkmk 2.3.0 by marking the respective tickets

ChristophIt would be great to be able to specify an own s3 endpoint, so the target could be used with self hosted aws compliant s3 storages.

See 'endpoint_url' in https://boto3.amazonaws.com/v1/documentation/api/latest/reference/core/session.html#boto3.session.Session.client .
Furthermore a 'verify' checkbox could be very useful for lan installations. -

Mohamed Saleh AdminHi Christoph,

Thank you very much for your comment.
Since the original scope of this is Idea is already Released, we would like to request that you create a new Idea so that it is visible as Under Consideration and users can actively vote and comment on it and our team can easily find it when assessing the different ideas on the portal as potential candidates for implementation.
With regards to the requested capability, as of now this is not directly supported. However we would like to reference the following example of how to use minio with boto3:

Please let us know if this is helpful.

JulienHi, We are using Swisscom Dynamic Storage S3, based on AWS S3 but we are not able in checkMK to specify the accesshost.
https://docs.developer.swisscom.com/service-offerings/dynamic-storage.html
"credentials": {
"accessHost": "ds11s3.swisscom.com",
"namespaceHost": "<Namespace-ID>.ds11s3ns.swisscom.com",
"accessKeyID": "<Namespace-AccountName>",
"secretAccessKey": "40-Characters"
},
It would be great to have the possibility to choose the access host instead of hard coded AWS Link.
Thanks!! -
