Froylan MENDEZSince Netapp uses deduplication and compression, it's a must to have this kind of metrics and monitoring in CHECK_MK.
I hope this feature will be implemented soon. -

Thomas Lippert AdminI assume some Netapp management software shows this information as well (see screenshot). Why is it important to monitor this information as part of IT infrastructure monitoring? What kind of check is expected here?

JanDThe screenshot is not from a Netapp management software, but from our legacy monitoring system.
It's possible to read detailed information about efficiency from the Netapp command line, but it shows only current values - Not the development over time.
What we need is a check for the amount of data that was saved by volume/aggregate efficiency features (deduplication, compression). If possible to be displayed in relation to the used space. (The blue "saved space" graph in the screenshot is stacked on top of "used space" to reflect the amount of disk space that would be needed without volume efficiency.)
This information is useful to understand the characteristics of the data in a volume and helps to predict the space usage development in the future.
It’s especially valuable in situations where data are moved to Non-Netapp storage and the full size is needed. (e.g Backup) -

Mike1098Hello Thomas, the screenshot is from our current Nagios based monitoring system. We may can provide the used plugin if helpful.

Thomas Lippert AdminHI Michael, yes, it would be nice to get the Nagios plugin. Please send it by email
Just another question about this request. If this just a request for another metric with really used diskspace vs. virtually used diskspace? Or is any kind of check required? -

Froylan MENDEZGreat effort to have this implemented!
Many thanks CheckMK.
