Set labels based on software inventory
It would be a great help if labels for inventory-informations could be set by rules.
This would help to configure for example alerts for unwanted software or too old versions.

Robert SanderYou can use our data2label tool for that purpose.

GerdI really like data2label - but that is a workaround :)
Depending on the size of the customer installation some searches needed to get information from the software inventory take way too long and run into GUI timeouts making data2label unable to set the labels correctly. If checkmk can set the labels while processing the HW/SW inventory it would be much better.
It would also be easier for the user (as no text config file as in data2label would be needed) and quicker as a change in HW/SW Inventory would be directly reflected. -

Thomas Lippert AdminHi Doc,
The two feature requests are not really equal. One can be achieved with the other, but not the other way around. And the inventory might not be the only source for adding labels -

Stefan Mayr MergedCheckmk already collects information with the HW/SW inventory but can not create host labels or tags from that information.
Currently additional plugins like LabelPicker or data2label have to be used. It would be great to have this as a builtin feature with rules to create those labels and tags natively. -
