"Match Folder" should be "Match Folder(s)" in Notification Rules definition
A business unit can have an application that is hosted across multiple sites. So for a given application, the Notification Rule configuration should point to the various similar application folders across the sites. Clean and understandable.
We've designed our folder hierarchy for both ease of navigation for our users as well as avoiding duplication of similar sub-folder trees.
To circumvent the in-ability of selecting more than one folder in the Conditions section of a Notification Rule, we've had to implement a complicated workaround schema via the addition of tags, tag groups, tag to hostgroup mappings, tags to service group mappings and pre-conditions to properly write the Notification Rules with the current restriction. Not elegant at large scale.
Rearranging our folder structure placing the "one" folder at the top of a "notification hierarchy" in order to leverage inheritance would have the side effect of duplication of many sub-folder trees which we've worked hard to avoid.

Martin Hirschvogel AdminWe believe that there are quite some tools in Checkmk which already enable such a use case.
Please contact one of our consultants, who might be able to help you come up with a scalable approach.
