Run 2 agents on a monitored host
Support the installation and operation of two completely separate Checkmk agents on a host. This allows e.g. an MSP to monitor everything up to the OS level, while the customer monitors the applications and other services running on top of the OS
Note: Requesting agent data from two different Checkmk hosts is already possible, but in this case the same agent is running

Heiko WenzigThat is really useful. We still work with two agents, but the second agent don´t work with the bakery.
It would be great when the second agent is full integrated into Checkmk with bakery. -

Stefan PreisVery appreciated! We hope to be better able to migrate from one CMK version to another, especially with the upcoming new linux 2.1 agent we assume to do a lot of testing, that would be easer with both 2.0 and 2.1 agent installed.

Holger ConradWe recently had this exact case where we needed two different agents on one shared customer host and would like an implementation.

Jens-Michael LambrechtHi @All,
we also need that new feature with exactly same requirements (by RFC) very urgent. -

Wolfgang PflaumThis would be really helpful for us, too.

Thomas Lippert AdminThis is not such an obvious and easy to solve topic. Two agents means, we have two times the load of the agent on the host. And the load created by the agent plugins of agent 1 can influence the statistics of agent 2.

Martin Hirschvogel AdminAs the suggestion here actually describes the solution and is not a description of a problem. An example for a problem description in this case would be, e.g. as a MSP, I am not able to provide my customers with a subset of the agent data
For the ones, who voted/commented on this, please share what your concrete problem is. -

Mike1098Hello Martin, As you know we run two environments, one for the monitoring of our local IT (Local Monitoring) and one for our central teams (Central Monitoring.) Especially for our IT systems on shop floor levels the responsibility's are split between local IT and central teams. Also the way of alerting is different between both environment. That's why we monitor the same node in two different monitoring systems. Local IT often need to monitor specific things like files in folders, which couldn't be standardized and also some local checks are used from both teams but only one team is interested in the specific alert. With two agents on same host we can configure each agent specific to the needs of each team.
regards
Michael
